CHILDREN have enjoyed a tour of Ilkley’s new-look Parish Church.
All Saints reopened in June following six months of major redevelopment supported by a National Lottery Heritage grant. On Thursday, August 1 the church staged an open day on the theme of All Things Mice.
The event highlighted the building’s links to Yorkshire craftsman Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson, of Kilburn and included a church mouse hunt and mouse mask-making and sugar mice-making. Heritage manager Carry Lynott said: “We wanted to encourage children and holiday visitors to see, among other things, one of the church’s heritage assets – the 1953 organ case, one of the last pieces the Mouseman worked on.”
Anyone interested in helping at future church activity days is asked to e-mail heritage@ilkleyallsaints.org.uk or call (01943) 816035.
