AN ONLINE ‘shop local’ business is in the running for a major award.
ShopAppy has been named as the regional finalist in the 2019 Small Business Big Heart Awards, in association with BusinessesForSale.com. The business lets shoppers in a number of towns use a website to choose and reserve items from local shops and then collect them from a pick-up spot.
ShopAppy was founded by entrepreneur Jackie Mulligan who chose Otley as one of the launch towns for the venture when it began in 2016. Director of Marketing at BusinessesForSale.com, Rufus Bazley, said: “ShopAppy has harnessed some incredible skills, built meaningful contacts and created technological solutions to enable people to shop local again - reviving 26 towns and cities so far.”
Dr Mulligan said: “Our aim is for people to put heart back into their communities by shopping local and so we are delighted to have been named in the shortlist for the Small Business Big Heart Awards.”
