POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted at Golden Acre Park.
The victim, who was in her forties, was walking in the Bramhope park shortly after noon on Monday, June 24 when she was approached from behind and grabbed by a man who assaulted her. She fought him off and he ran off towards the main, Otley Road, car park.
The attacker was white, about 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins tall, with straight black hair which reached below his ears. He was wearing a bright blue or turquoise T-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms and would have been covered in mud.
Detective Inspector James Entwistle of Leeds District CID said: “This was a very frightening experience for the woman involved and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace this man. There were other people in the park and although we have spoken to some we would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or saw a man matching the description.”
Police patrols have been increased at the park following the incident. Anyone with information should contact Leeds District CID via 101, quoting crime reference 13190318747, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
