DOWN Syndrome Training and Support Service in Bingley has been chosen by Sovereign Healthcare to receive a grant of £5,000 towards the running costs of their Early Development Groups for 2019. The groups support children with Down Syndrome and their families for school readiness, including families in Ilkley.
Isabel Ashman (Early Years and Family Support Practitioner) said: “It might sound glib, but our groups are a lifeline to these families and we repeatedly receive that sentiment in feedback from parents. The support, training and resources the children and families receive aren’t available anywhere else. The vast majority of children who attend these groups move on to mainstream schools. We are very grateful to Sovereign Healthcare, who clearly understand the value and importance of our work with the Down syndrome community, for their continued support.”
Down Syndrome Training and Support Service is entirely funded by donations and grants. With an annual costs of £160k raising funds to continue to offer their extensive services is a major concern for the charity. For more information and to make a donation visit www.downsyndromebradford.com
