TWO walks in Otley have raised more than £500.
Student Maisie Dixon organised the Sunday, April 14 events to generate funds for her volunteering trip to the Fijian islands this summer.
Some 35 people turned out to take part in one of the two guided walks that were held on the day, led by Randal Metzger and John Sparshatt of Walkers Are Welcome.
A total of £506 was raised which has helped Maisie reach the £2,000 total she needed to contribute towards her trip to Fiji.
While on the islands she will be working for Think Pacific, which helps underprivileged children in remote areas access improved health care and educational opportunities.
Speaking afterwards, Maisie said: “This is absolutely amazing, I feel overwhelmed. We had a lovely day - people are so generous.” After completing the routes the walkers enjoyed refreshments at the Otley Labour Rooms.
