A FUNDRAISING teenage singer from Otley has been named a Star Student.
Emeli Mumford’s most recent charitable work saw her release a single for Save the Children, Dear Santa, before Christmas. The 17 year old Prince Henry’s Grammar School student was inspired to write the song, which she recorded with a choir of local children, after seeing a report on Syrian refugees. It went on to raise more than £1,400 for the charity
Now Emeli’s musical and fundraising achievements have been recognised with a Bradford and District Telegraph and Argus Schools Award. Emeli’s mother, Sarah Mumford, joined her at the 2019 awards evening to see her named the winner of the Star Student (Over 16) category.
She said: “I was genuinely gobsmacked and obviously very proud and pleased for Emeli.”
