AN OTLEY businessman has been elected to the Fellowship of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.
Ray Georgeson MBE, who manages RGR Ray Georgeson Resources environmental services consultancy and management company, received the honour at a ceremony in Ireland on Wednesday, November 14.
Mr Georgeson - who is also a local councillor and chairs Otley Town Council - received his Fellowship from the institution’s outgoing President, Professor David Wilson MBE.
He said: “It is a huge honour and privilege for me to be recognised by my industry peers as worthy of admission to the institution’s Fellowship.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the resources and waste industries and to contributing to the work of the institution as it supports the next generation of waste and resource managers.
“They will be grappling with the challenges of reducing the carbon impact of waste management, improving our recycling performance and leading the nation towards a resource efficient, circular economy.”
The presentation was made at the institution’s Presidential Inauguration event at the Intercontinental Hotel, Dublin.
