AIREBOROUGH ROTARY CLUB: At least there was a cheerful ending to the week with the planting of 30 saplings from the Woodland Trust being planted in Nunroyd Park. Sally Mohan, community chairwoman organised the event with help from police cadets and friends of the park. Rotarians Barry Bootland, Freda Irving, Graham Davies and Raj Mani wielded the spades all several metres apart. There was a novel Skyped special board meeting at which it was agreed to cancel several events including the Easter Egg Hunt, the sponsored walk, the AGM and the next three evening meetings and also to postpone the June beer festival until the first week in September. Letters will be written to the stores who donated Easter eggs for the hunt explaining that, once decided, the eggs will be handed over to local charitable groups in the area we cover. Tuesday and Thursday meetings have already been cancelled until further notice. An internal communication network has been set up and ‘keep your spirits up’ WhatsApp groups are running for both Rotary and Inner Wheel.
