THE Otley Community Larder has expanded its opening hours and undergone significant renovations, making it more accessible for the community.
Otley 2030, who announced the changes, said the Larder’s goal remains the same: to reduce food waste by collecting surplus food from local retailers and distributing it to the community on a pay-as-you-feel basis.
The Larder has extended its hours and people can now visit during the following times:
• Tuesdays: 2:30pm to 5:30pm
• Thursdays: 6:30pm to 7:30pm
• Saturdays: 10:30am to 1:30pm
Volunteer co-ordinator Jade Harris said: “We encourage everyone to come along – whether you want to reduce food waste, contribute to sustainability, or need a bit of extra food support.
“Our pay-as-you-feel model allows you to contribute what you can, but there’s no pressure – everyone is welcome.”
The Larder’s newly-renovated space, located at the rear of the Otley Social Club, has been transformed with the help of local volunteers and businesses.
The Larder also plans to complete a shop fit soon by using recycled and repurposed materials.
Jade added: “This renovation is a reflection of our commitment to sustainability in every part of our operation.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us in making these changes, including local businesses and the National Lottery, whose funding made the improvements possible.”
