THE United Reformed Church on Bridge Street in Otley is hosting two drop-in events on Monday, January 30 - from 11am-1pm and from 4pm-6pm – where you can ask questions and chat with biblical scholars from Botswana, the USA, UK, Uganda, Germany, South Africa, and New Zealand, of multiple Christian denominations and of no religion.
The event has been organised by Otley resident Johanna Stiebert, who is Professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Leeds.
She said: "As part of a research grant from the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) I am organising a social engagement event bringing biblical and religious studies scholars to Otley for a community event. This will be a sort of Question Time and is part of a bigger project about using the Bible for social justice and activist purposes.
"If you have questions about biblical texts, history, or events, about theology, or biblical languages – we’ll try to answer them! Everyone is welcome."
