A COUPLE who have been active in the Otley community for many years have celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary with a congratulatory message from King Charles III and The Queen Consort.
John and Hilda Morgan married in North Shields 60 years ago and have a son Andrew, daughter Julie and three grandchildren.
Hilda, 85, is a former Otley Town Mayor, brownie leader, swim teacher, JP, Leeds City Councillor and is an honorary alderman of Leeds.
John, 86, is an honorary citizen of Otley. He gave 42 years to the scouting movement and was chairman of Otley Sports Council for 18 years. He has been involved in the carnival, river festivals and produced a book on the history of Otley - Otley Past, Present and Future.
The couple are having a joint celebration at Coniston Hall on December 2 with friends.
