WHARFEDALE Naturalists Society is delighted to celebrate their 75th anniversary with a talk by TV presenter, author, and one of the UK’s foremost entomologists, Dr George McGavin entitled ‘The eXcrement Factor – the Natural History of Dung’ with proceeds going to the Ukrainian Red Cross.
A previous reviewer said of the talk: "Dr George McGavin's talk was one of the most entertaining and informative that I have ever attended. This Scottish naturalist and broadcaster captivated the audience with his presentation on dung and its history. At first sight, this is hardly the most appealing subject, but Dr McGavin managed to entertain and get serious ecological points across without being gross about his subject matter."
From gunpowder to house bricks, fuel and fertiliser (and much more besides), dung has shaped human history. Don’t miss this fascinating lecture which will take place on November 1st at 7-30pm at Christchurch, The Grove, Ilkley. Non-members of the Society are invited to attend for a fee of just £10.
Booking is open now so members of the public can reserve their place by emailing peter.b.riley@btinternet.com – pay on the night.
