MARY Greaves celebrated her 101st birthday at the Chevin Country Club and Spa in Otley.
In the finest Scottish tradition she was piped in on her arrival by Piper Malcolm Smith, who then joined the party providing lively music throughout the event.
He played traditional music and added choices with a significance to her, such as music from her home town and music that had been played at her wedding.
Highlights included Mary of Argyle, Amazing Grace, Happy Birthday and Auld Lang Syne amongst many others.
Having originally come from the Highlands of Scotland to Yorkshire in 1943 when she was allocated war work at Crompton Parkinson’s, Guiseley, she made her life and brought up her family in Ilkley, returning home to Oban whenever possible.
