A NEW exhibition showcasing the work of Siu Kwan Bevan and Linda Wood has begun at Gallery At The Art Shop in Ilkley and runs until October 8.
Siu Kwan Bevan graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Bradford College of Art and Design where she began exploring the integration of Western abstract art with Chinese calligraphy(an important part of her Chinese heritage). Many drawings and prints were produced incorporating the free flowing movements common to both these practices.
The exhibition includes a selection of these works along with more recent paintings, which came about during lockdown. Linda Wood trained in Fine Art and Design at Leeds City College. Mainly specialising in oil painting, she is particularly drawn to the application of texture to her work. Her interest is in surfaces, their formats and the complexities of light upon them.
Using the above techniques, she applies her eye for detail to her various subjects which results in work portraying a strong sense of character, yet with an underlying sensitivity. Her work has been exhibited widely locally, often in exhibitions which are raising money for charities.
The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm, on Hawksworth Street, Ilkley.
