A WEST Yorkshire family has won a holiday worth a whopping £2,000 after winning estate agent HOP’s competition, which challenged eagle eyed Horsforth, Leeds and Bradford residents to find special golden boards that were located outside homes across the city.

Hundreds of trees are also being planted for every individual who managed to spot one of the 20 special boards and entered the competition. Entrants had to take a photo of the board, post it on their Facebook or Instagram feed tagging one of the HOP social media pages and using the hashtag #HOPGoldenBoard.

During the competition, HOP, which has offices in Leeds city centre, Horsforth and Pudsey, posted clues about their special golden board locations on Facebook and Instagram and entrants could enter the competition each time they found a new board. One winner was chosen at random when the competition closed.

Claudia Carroll managed to track down four golden boards and will now enjoy a holiday abroad with her husband and two sons, aged 12 and eight.

Rich Hare, who heads up HOP’s Horsforth office on New Road Side, said: “This was a brilliant competition and we were astounded to see so many people entering.

“Our special golden competition boards were interspersed with the hundreds of purple boards that we have across Leeds and beyond, and people really went out of their way to find them.

“Claudia was a superstar hunter and finding four boards meant her odds of winning were vastly improved with her hard work certainly paying off. We’re delighted to present her with the prize and wish the Carroll family a very happy holiday!”

Claudia said: “This was a fantastic competition! We managed to find boards in Leeds city centre, Kirkstall, as well as two in Pudsey, but I still couldn’t believe it when HOP called to say we’d won. We’re now planning to enjoy a holiday in Cyprus which will be our first holiday abroad in seven years and we can’t wait!”

As part of the competition, HOP has committed to planting over 450 trees this year, with one tree being planted for each competition entry, as well as every board that went up during the competition.

As part of the green initiative, HOP has partnered with GreenTheUK, which connects businesses with local wildlife projects and works in partnership with the Royal Forestry Society (RFS) planting thousands of climate resilient trees across the UK.
