KEIGHLEY Parkinson's Support Group has received a £1,000 boost.

The donation is from housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, through its community fund.

Each month a different good cause is awarded money from the firm's charity pot.

Keighley Parkinson's Support Group, based at the town's Healthy Living Centre, provides a range of social and physical activities aimed at promoting wellbeing for people with the condition.

It relies on public donations, grants and fundraising to continue its work.

Cora King, the group's secretary, said: "The support group is important to all our members because it gives them a safe space to meet others, exercise and improve their mental and physical wellbeing. The £1,000 donation will allow us to continue using our centre and providing our services, so we’re grateful to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for its generous support."

Ian Ruthven, managing director of Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: "Keighley Parkinson's Support Group is one of many charities we admire for their commitment to improving the lives of others. Our community fund aims to do just that and we’re delighted we can boost the help the group gives even more."
