THIS year’s Ilkley Live festival takes place this Saturday (July 9) and the fantastic line-up of acts has been finalised.

Ilkley can look forward to over 20 free performances with music ranging from classical to funk to new wave.

The Ilkley Live festival is a community-run event which is completely free. Performers sign up to play in a garden or another venue around Ilkley and then the audience walks between venues, choosing the acts the most want to see. This year is over twice the size of 2021’s inaugural festival in terms of performers and the festival organisers are hoping to see large crowds enjoying the music.

New this year is a facility on the website, IlkleyLive.com where anyone can select the performers they want to see and they will then have their own, personalised festival guide on their phone. It will give them exact locations of each act selected and also how long it will take to get from one venue to the next so that no one has to miss a moment of music. People need to just visit ilkleylive.com on their phone and then go to My Programme to plan their afternoon.

"We are all set for another amazing day of music filling the streets of Ilkley," says Dan Hammond, the festival coordinator. "Music, the outdoors and being with others are all so good for us and Ilkley Live combines all three into a totally uplifting experience. Ilkley Live is yet another thing that makes the town so special and we can’t wait to see the town come out to have fun and also support the local performers. Where else could you see over 20 performers and not pay a penny for it?"

To make the most of the festival, people are encouraged to do some preparation. Dan’s tips are: "Go to the website to plan your festival on your phone, take a folding chair if you wish and pack a drink or two or visit one of the many cafés and shops in town to stock up along the way. Finally, depending on the weather, take a sun cream or an umbrella. Or knowing this summer, possibly both!"
