A WOMAN escaped an immediate prison sentence after beating up a paramedic and police officer.

Victoria Ruth Walker, 44, of Parkwood Rise, Keighley, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced.

She faced two charges of assault by beating an emergency worker.

The offences, which she initially denied but to which she then pleaded guilty, happened on November 21 last year.

The paramedic was assaulted at Parkwood Rise, while the police officer was assaulted at Airedale Hospital.

For each charge, she received a 14-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, to run concurrently,

She must also undergo treatment for alcohol dependency for a period of nine months and undertake a maximum of 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Walker must also pay a total of £200 compensation and an application was made to recoup the money through benefit deductions.
