FOLLOWING the sell-out success of Otley Players’ March performance of two of Alan Bennett’s best loved monologues, Otley Players are thrilled to be producing two more monologues from Alan Bennett’s classic Talking Heads series first produced in 1987.

‘A bed Among the Lentils’ first performed by Maggie Smith and ‘Cream Cracker Under the Settee’ first performed by the inimitable Thora Hird, show Bennett at his best and are as relevant today as the day they were written.

Performances at Otley Courthouse are on July 9th and July 10th, 2022 (2pm and 7pm performances available). Tickets cost £9, concessions £7 and are available to buy in person from Otley Courthouse, over the phone or online).

David Dodd who is directing this production says that he is delighted that Otley Players are able to perform at Otley’s Courthouse again and is looking forward to bringing these brilliant pieces of writing to life for the audience.

A spokesperson said: “Otley Players are keen to grow in Otley and develop writing and talent in Otley and surrounding areas. If you’re unsure about getting involved but would like to dip your toe into acting, backstage, production, directing or writing please come along to one of Otley Player’s open reading nights which are being held throughout the year as an informal introduction to the group. The next open reading is Monday 18th July at 8pm upstairs at the Black Horse, if you’re interested in hearing more email otleyplayers@gmail.com.
