ILKLEY'S Gallery At The Art Shop is exhibiting the work of watercolourist Richard Gawthorpe until July 16.
Richard has a long and successful career as a painter despite being refused a place at art college due to being colour blind. Alongside his fulltime career as a PE teacher, he has over the years held many watercolour courses, and taught regular classes; became Chairman for the Selection Committees of both the British Watercolour Society and British Society of painters; and exhibited throughout the country.
He is perhaps best known for the support he has given to many UK charities through the sales of his paintings and cards.
You can watch Richard painting in the Gallery on June 11, 18, 25, July 1, 9 and 16 when he will be painting Northorpe Hall’s Christmas card. This is a family and child support trust based in Mirfield and Richard has painted their cards for over eight years.
Gallery At The Art Shop, Hawksworth Street, Ilkley, LS29 9DU, open 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
