A MEMORIAL tree has been planted in honour of a long-standing Inner Wheel member.
A spokeswoman for the Inner Wheel Club of Otley Chevin said when Gloria Cunningham died of cancer the club was deprived of a "vibrant, loyal, enthusiastic and much loved lady".
She said: "Members wanted to have a permanent memorial to Gloria and it has taken some time to bring this about, but happily they have now been able to plant an oak sapling in the grounds of Chevin Lodge Country Park Hotel, the club's headquarters. They were joined by members of Gloria's family for the planting, when a memorial plaque was also placed to remind us all of a very special person."
The Club is preparing to mark the 32nd anniversary of its charter, in May 1990, with a celebratory lunch at Chevin Lodge along with representatives from the District Executive. Members continue to raise funds for a number of charities.
