A council scheme to replace around 80,000 old street lights throughout Leeds has caused anger among Rawdon residents who say they are being sited too close to their home.
People in the Layton Park Drive area say new lampposts which have been put up have been moved closer to their houses and are more likely to shine in through their windows at night.
They are calling on the city council to move them further back away from their homes and towards the grass verge.
But the council says it is doing its best to work with local people, and has given them a number to ring with any concerns.
A council spokesman said: "Leeds City Council is currently working with a contractor to ensure the replacement of around 80,000 old street lights throughout Leeds.
"We have received some complaints from residents in Rawdon and we are investigating these.
"While it may not be possible to entirely accommodate everyone's concerns, we will make every effort, as far as is practicable, to do so.
"Each property affected by the works will have received a card notifying them of the start of work and this card also provides them with a free phone telephone number, 0800 032 5349, which they can use too speak to the contractor, SEC, directly to discuss their concerns or they can also call the council directly."
