THE NEXT Ilkley Local History Hub zoom meeting will be on Saturday, February 26 at 3pm.

A spokesperson for the hub said: "There will be a presentation and discussion about Ilkley past and present, looking at the northern slopes. These developed later than the Moorland slopes. The Moorland slopes were the subject of the January Local History Hub and developed from the end of the 1860s. The northern slopes developed after 1899 when the new bridge was planned to be built by the Wharfedale Estate Company with a plan of new streets on the sunny slopes above Ilkley facing across to the picturesque moors.

"Gradually new houses were built along the streets of Middleton in a variety of styles. The streets took some of their names from the memory of Prince Rupert marching to the relief of York during the Civil War. The sports clubs also moved across the river from their original sites as those sites became house plots."
