Dramatic scenes of flooding in Ilkley can seen in these photographs.

The pictures were posted yesterday morning by George Peters on the Friends of Ilkley Riverside and Parks facebook page.

Flood warnings for Ilkley and parts of the surrounding area remain in place today.

In an update this morning the Environment Agency said: "The flood warning for the River Wharfe at Ilkley remains in force. River levels have been dropping in the upper catchments, but are now rising due to local rainfall. Levels are not expected to rise much further or reach yesterday’s levels. We are not expecting large amounts of rainfall through today and expect to remove the flood warning later on. Areas at risk are locations near the River Wharfe, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly properties around Bath Street, Bridge Street, Ashlands Road, the Cemetery and Beck Foot Farm. We are monitoring river levels closely. You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Visit the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast and up to date river levels. This message will be updated later today, or as the situation changes."

The flood warning area covers properties around Bath Street, Bridge Street, Ashlands Road, the Cemetery and Beck Foot Farm.

Warnings are also in place for Burley in Wharfedale, Denton Road, Otley and Pool in Wharfedale.

In its warning about Burley in Wharfedale the Environment Agency says: "Areas at risk include Sports Pavilion, Crook Farm, properties off Coutances Way, Ilkley Road, Greenholme Trading Estate and Otley Road. Some properties near Wood Head Beck. The Sewage Works, Maple Bank Farm and some properties off Hag Farm Road."

Its Denton Road warning says: "Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Wharfe, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Properties around Denton Road, Middleton Avenue and the Cricket, Football and Rugby Grounds, the sewage works and Denton Bridge."

The Otley flood warning area covers properties on Newhall Park, Mill Lane and Riverdale Road. The Sports Pavillion and isolated properties between Otley and Pool.

In Pool in Wharfedale the flood warning area covers the Yorkshire Water Pumping Station on Warren Lane and Mill Farm.
