HUNDREDS of primary school children in Horsforth and Aireborough have been given Usborne Dictionaries4Life thanks to Aireborough Rotary.

A total of 460 books have been donated to year three pupils despite the difficulties posed by Covid.

Aireborough Rotary spokesman Robert Mirfield said: "It was only on rare occasions that it was possible to actually hand over the books but whenever it did happen it was as enlightening and uplifting as ever.

"The primary schools participating were Broadgate Lane, Horsforth Featherbank, Guiseley Primary, Horsforth Newlaithes, Queensway , Rufford Park , St Margaret’s C of E, St Oswald’s Guiseley, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic and Yeadon Westfield .

The exercise was organised on behalf of Aireborough Rotary by Community Chair Sally Mohan, who had the help of John Moorhouse and Robert Mirfield in making the presentations. The club has received a grant from Rotary District 1040 towards the cost of dictionaries for 2022 and members are looking forward optimistically to face-to-face meetings as well as also returning to reading in schools.
