RESIDENTS in parts of Bramhope and Otley were told to leave their bins out for an extra 48 hours after a number of missed collections this week.
Catch up collections were organised for a number of areas as the service continues to face problems caused by Covid-19 and higher amounts of rubbish.
In an email to Adel and Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson Leeds City Council's waste management team said it was currently emptying around 65,000 black and green bins each day.
Cllr Anderson was told: "Black bin tonnages are currently averaging 7-10% more than pre-Covid. The post-Christmas collections add a further 10%. The service commitment to residents for black and green bins is that every attempt possible will be made to complete the collections on their scheduled day, and any misses to be recovered within 2 days."
