TWO Conservative District Councillors have been recognised for their achievements at the LGiU and CCLA Councillor Awards 2021. Cllr Dale Smith, who represents the Wharfedale Ward, on Bradford Council, was shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement Award to recognise the 58 years of service as a Councillor and the community work he has been involved in across Bradford district. Cllr Mohammed Nazam (Keighley Central Ward) was shortlisted and received a Highly Commended in the Resilience and Recovery Award for his work during the Covid Pandemic across the Keighley community.

Cllr Rebecca Poulsen, Leader of the Conservative Group, said: “I am delighted that two of our Conservative Councillors have been shortlisted for these awards. Councillors work incredibly hard in their communities and both Cllr Smith and Cllr Nazam have been nominated and shortlisted for these national awards that recognise the work they have done.”

Cllr Dale Smith said: “It was a privilege to be nominated but without the wholehearted support of my wife Margaret, my family, friends and colleagues I would not have had the opportunity to serve the communities of Bradford District and help deliver positive changes.”
