LA Casita, a tapas restaurant in Ilkley, has pledged to help three local charities this December.

The restaurant asked its social media followers to pick a charity for them to support, the shortlist was between Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Martin House Children’s Hospice and Feed Leeds Homeless project.

Following a high number of votes split evenly for all three charities, the restaurant decided to support them all. “We couldn’t possibly pick one following all the votes we received,” said co-founder Oliver Renton. “So, we thought, let’s support all three!”

La Casita has picked three dishes from its Christmas menu to be charity dishes and all proceeds from these dishes will go to the charity they represent. This will happen over a three-week period in December and each week the restaurant will support one of the charities.

The first week sees La Casita support children’s hospice Martin House through their dish chorizo in cider mulled spices. Week two supports Yorkshire Air Ambulance through their new dish roasted parsnips and chestnut granola and week three’s dish is Cod Loin with ox cheeks in aid of Feed Leeds Homeless project.

Vickie Bowden, Fundraising Manager at Yorkshire Air Ambulance said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to La Casita Tapas and everyone who voted for us, in the charity poll, to be a beneficiary of the proceeds raised from the sale of their charity dish. It costs £12,000 a day to keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances maintained and in the air. Local communities and businesses such as La Casita Tapas are the life-blood of our charity.”
