A CHARITY which helps older people is seeking new trustees.

AVSED is the local Neighbourhood Network scheme providing activities and support to residents over the age of 60 living in Aireborough to live happy, healthy, and independent lives and prevent social isolation.

The charity, which will be 30 next year, is on the lookout for new members for its volunteer trustee board, to help continue the good work it has being doing and shape its future.

Based in Nunroyd Park, Yeadon, AVSED runs a busy schedule of activities from exercise to entertainment and dominoes to digital classes, as well as outreach, home visits and fish and chip Fridays.

A spokesperson said: "As a trustee, you will help share knowledge and skills, help make decisions about staff, funding and anything else that will support the project manager successfully with the day to day running. We also would be keen to speak to anyone with a finance background who can help fill our treasurer role and help keep the books balanced. This would suit someone who is possibly retiring from an accountancy or bookkeeping career.

"With a commitment from as little as ten hours a year, you can help have a big impact on the lives of some of Aireborough’s most resilient and charming characters and ensure that everyone has the right to age well in Aireborough."

Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a trustee, should call 0113 250 1702 or email info@avsed.org.uk and ask for Ken Elliott, Chair of AVSED.
