A FREE talk on allotment gardening will be given in a zoom event hosted by Aireborough Civic Society next week.

National Allotment Society President Phil Gomersall will be guest speaker at the talk at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 30.

Phil will talk about What Allotments Can Offer and Allotment Gardening on a Shoestring. Anyone who wants to attend should email clivewoods@hotmail.com to receive the link.

Clive Woods said: "Phil lives locally in Rawdon and has an allotment at Victory Garden Allotments."

He added: "He has campaigned for more allotments in Aireborough for a good number of years and is keen to create closer relations between the Aireborough allotments.

"As President of the National Allotment Society he spends much of his time promoting allotments nationally and internationally. He has also created many allotment display gardens at Prestigious Flower Shows in Yorkshire and at Chelsea Flower Show and he can often be found giving talks at the Harrogate Spring and Autumn Flower Shows. In addition he can quite often be seen with other volunteers planting up the planters that he has created, situated around Rawdon as he is also Vice chairman and a founder member of Rawdon in Bloom."
