IT is 40 years since Clarke Foley officially opened it’s doors and much has changed over that period.

In 2020 during lockdown Ann Whitehouse, a director of the centre at the time, had the idea of celebrating the event by compiling a book of memories.

A call went out to those who had worked there, either as staff or volunteers and also to visitors to put down memories of their connections with the centre. Ann, together with two volunteers, Jane Forster and Pam Wilson collated all the stories that came in and put them together in a book for publication.

The book also contains some of the history behind it’s origins and development over the years.

It will be available for sale price £10 at the Martin House Children’s Hospice charity Christmas Fair on Saturday, November 27, 2021, 10am to noon, at the Clarke Foley Community Centre. All monies raised from the book will go to Clarke Foley.

Situated in the heart of Ilkley, adjacent to the main car park, Clarke Foley community centre is a charity providing facilities for recreational, educational and a wide range of other leisure pursuits.
