STUDENTS at Prince Henry’s in Otley are looking for opportunities to work as volunteers - so the school is putting together a directory of local organisations who would like young people to help out.
The school has groups of Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteers who are aged 14, 15 or 16 plus and in the summer term school runs a day of volunteering, where the whole of Year 10 and their teachers volunteer.
“Our links with the community are very important to us and we always try to impress on our students that global citizenship begins at home. Our students enjoy the opportunity that volunteering gives them to learn more about the place in which they live and the people they share it with, as well as building their skills and confidence.” said Christopher Lillington, Assistant Headteacher: Learning Community.
Organisations interested in hosting young volunteers, either on a regular or one off basis should contact Pippa McPherson at Prince Henry’s Grammar School on 01943 463524 or mnp@princehenrys.co.uk to have a chat and add their details to the school’s volunteering directory.
