Open letter to Robbie Moore MP

Dear Robbie Moore

I was one of nine constituents that wrote an open letter to you, published in the Ilkley Gazette on 26 August, in response to a survey you are carrying out to elicit views on priorities for this constituency. The themes you define, and the list of permitted answers, appear to ignore climate change which the prime minister has identified as pivotal for our planet.

I thank you for your letter in reply, dated 28 September, which is only in paper form. In it you explain your farming, recycling and consultancy background and assure me that climate change is incredibly important to you. In answer to our concerns you say ‘Please be assured to expect a separate survey regarding climate change and how we can all contribute towards the green agenda’.

On behalf of the nine signatories I welcome this new assurance, which was not mentioned in the previous survey. We stand ready to assist you in formulating the questions posed and hope to see this very soon, given that Alok Sharma, the cabinet minister responsible, says that if urgent action is not taken the consequences will be catastrophic.
