PUPILS at Burley and Woodhead Primary were recently put through their paces, with a visit from the inspirational sprint athlete and role model, Anyika Onuora.
Anyika shared stories of the resilience and determination necessary to achieve her World Championship bronze medals; a European relay gold medal, and an Olympic bronze medal.
A school spokesperson said: “The stories of her fight for success were an inspiration to the children; explaining that, by digging deep you can find strengths that you didn’t even realise you had.
“Anyika spent the day sharing her sprint coaching top tips with children across all age groups, ready for the start of the Wharfedale Primary School Cross Country League.”
Anyika made her Olympic debut at London 2012, competing in the 100m and 200m. She won won her first Olympic medal, coming third in the 4x400m relay in Rio in 2016.
