AIREBOROUGH Rotary will welcome Frank Renton and the Hepworth Band back to the rejuvenated Yeadon Town Hall for the Annual Charity Brass Band Concert.

The concert will take at 2.30pm on Sunday October 10. The Guest Soloist is Jonathan Bates, Principal Horn with the world famous Foden’s Brass Band. Tickets are £13 plus booking fee and are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/yeadontownhall

A spokesman for Aireborough Rotary said: "Delighted to be back in front of a live audience Frank and Ryan Watkins, Music Director of the Hepworth Band have come up with an attractive and varied programme designed to entertain a receptive audience. The American Songbook is well represented by Hoagy Carmichael’s Georgia on my mind and George Gershwin’s I got rhythm. Musicals have a place with South Pacific, West Side Story and even On your toes and John Williams’ scores from Saving Private Ryan and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom also make an appearance. Solos from both Jonathan Bates and George Newbould will add to the enjoyment.

"Frank has never stopped working since our last concert having set up his own flourishing website frankrentononbrass.com Working with his former BBC producer Terry Cater they publish a weekly 45 minute podcast that really does feature the best brass playing from around the world, all introduced by Frank. He also talks with well known conductors, composers and players about their lives and music. With his wife Helen he now plays weekly with the White House Big Band and they have joined the trumpet section of the Surrey Police Band (in his words ‘a copper band’).

"Ready to help develop burgeoning talent he also has a new role as Chairman of the Geneva Foundation, a charity set up to create opportunities for young musicians, budding composers and conductors, giving them greater public exposure and helping them progress on the path to excellence.

"Frank’s Band of Choice for the concert is once again the Hepworth still enjoying notable contest success. The band has maintained its Championship status for over 20 years, having qualified during that time to represent Yorkshire at the finals of the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert hall on four occasions.

"Guest soloist Jonathan Bates hails from Huddersfield and in 2012 became only the 2nd ever tenor horn player to reach the televised category final of BBC Young Musician of the Year. With an Extended Diploma in Classical Music from Leeds College of Music he went on to graduate from the Royal Northern College of music in 2017 with 1st Class honours in Performance and Composition."
