THE Bridge United Reformed Church in Otley is to open its doors for a Heritage Open Day on Saturday, September 11 from 10am to 2pm.

A spokesperson said: “The Bridge Church are pleased to be participating in this year’s English Heritage ‘Heritage Open Days’ and we shall be open from 10am until 2pm on Saturday for anyone who would like to call in for a browse. We will be serving free refreshments. Our friends at Otley Parish Church and Otley Courthouse are also participating - so why not visit all three of us?”

Also holding a Heritage Open Day - this time on Saturday, September 18 from 10am to 4pm is All Saints Parish Church in Ilkley who will be celebrating Edible England. This free event will give you a flavour of the past. What bread did Ilkley’s Angle Gamel, or the Roman Soldiers garrisoned here, eat - and why did a smuggled sandwich jeopardise a NASA space flight?
