THE AIREBOROUGH Historical Society calendar is back for 2022.

In the popular black and white format with modern coloured contrast inserts it is priced at £6.

The calendar will be on sale on National Heritage Days Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12, between 10am and 2pm in Yeadon Town Hall. Copies can also be bought online at www.aireboroughhistoricalsociety.co.uk

The theme for the Aireborough Historical Society display at the town hall is Edible Aireborough and will feature images of farms, shops, and food sources from the past. Also featured is the Yeadon pasty.

Aireborough Historical Society President Elaine Ellwood said; "Yeadon was once famous for the size of its currant pasties; they were so big only one half of the baking tray would fit in the oven, the other end would be propped on a chair back and when the oven end had baked the tray would be turned round.

"Old local cookery books and other items have been brought out of the archives for display. There will be a sale of local books and various postcards as well as the AHS calendar.

"Refreshments and tours of the refurbished iconic Yeadon Town Hall will be available courtesy of Jamie Hudson, Town Hall management team at 11am and 1pm both days."

The Aireborough Historical Society calendar can also be bought from Yeadon Post Office, Rawdon Library, Guiseley Library, and the Archive room at Yeadon Town Hall on meeting days.

Pop-up sites are also planned for the future.

AHS welcomes new members and the annual subscription is £10, running from March to February.
