The PRIORY at Bolton Abbey is collecting for Skipton Foodbank – and is appealing for strong reusable plastic bags.
A spokesman said: "At Bolton Abbey we collect for Skipton Food Bank, parcels can be left in the Church and many people just leave them at the supermarkets.
"We have had a plea for reusable plastic bags. Much of the food is packed in these reusable plastic bags. It became too expensive to keep buying these, Morrisons kindly give us some but not nearly enough.
"In this day and age, we think we should set an example and reuse/recycle etc. We have tried paper ones but if they get wet, they just disintegrate. Please just drop them off in the areas provided for the Food Bank."
The Church is now open every Sunday for the 10.30 am service. Places must be booked via the Church Office.
