A MOORFIELD School pupil has qualified for the prestigious Horse of the Year show.

Senior 5 pupil William Leeming, aged ten, won and went champion with his pony Thistledown San-Siro in the Mountain and Moorland first ridden class at Stoneleigh Horse Show in July.

The success means he qualifies for the prestigious Horse of the Year Show finals which take place in Birmingham in October.

A spokesperon for his Ilkley school said: “He has had a very successful year – not only has he qualified for the British Show Pony Championships, but also for the Royal International Horse Show to be held at Hickstead next week.

“He also had a successful day at the Great Yorkshire Show by coming second in a class of 48.

“Well done William, looking forward to seeing you at the Olympics!”
