OTLEY'S Chippindale Pool is set to re-open to the public this summer if the Covid roadmap goes according to plan.
In a joint statement this week Prince Henry's Grammar School and Leeds City Council said: "While the current guidance for changing room occupancy has kept Chippindale Pool closed for public swimming until final restrictions are lifted, Prince Henry’s Grammar School and Leeds City Council have been working hard behind the scenes to secure the future of the pool, both in the short and long term.
"Roadmap permitting, Leeds City Council hope to open Chippindale Pool for swimming lessons from the start of the school holidays, with public swims also starting as soon as possible after Monday 26 July. Local people can follow Chippindale Pool on Facebook or Twitter for updates, or check on https://active.leeds.gov.uk/findacentre/chippindalepool.
Janet Sheriff, Executive Headteacher said:“Discussions between ourselves and Leeds City Council are proceeding very positively, at present, and we are pleased that they will be able to open Chippindale Pool to the public shortly, roadmap permitting. We are hopeful that we will be able to develop a new agreement which secures the future of this valuable community resource.”
