SURVEYS are to be carried out at various points in Pool-in-Wharfedale with a view to getting a 20mph project up and running.

Leeds City Council's highways department will be collecting up to date speed data to assess the extents of the scheme. It is hoped the surveys will be complete before the school summer holidays, and that consultation should be able to start at the end of July. The council is hoping to get agreement from West Yorkshire Police to the scheme including sections of the A-classified routes.

In 2019 initial public reactions to proposals to introduce a 20mph scheme in Pool-in-Wharfedale were not positive. Local people were upset that Leeds City Council was planning to introduce the lower speed limit on the village’s residential streets but not, as many had hoped, on its busy main roads.
