PEOPLE in Leeds are being urged to join a weekend event to tidy up streets and green spaces across the city.
Between July 2 and 4 the volunteer litter-pickers of Litter Free Leeds along with other like -minded groups will be out in force. Litter Free Leeds has a Facebook following of almost 3000 members and another 500 members who are not Facebook users. The group uses bags supplied by the city council which can be left at the side of waste bins for collection.
On its webpage the group says: "We have an exciting fun event planned over the first weekend in July with the main day being Saturday 3rd July. We are encouraging all our volunteers to be seen 'out and about' with our distinctive purple bags to share the phenomenal success of the Litter Free Leeds team and to attract new members who want to join us in keeping our local communities clean, tidy and litter free."
