THE Government’s roadmap and current guidance on sporting events has encouraged Ilkley Cycling Club (ICC) to explore the possibility of hosting its popular Town Centre Races this summer, although probably a little further into the season than usual.

Similarly, subject to restrictions easing, ICC will organise the White Rose Classic sportive later this summer, in line with British Cycling Covid guidelines.

Registered riders will take on one of three challenging routes across the Yorkshire Dales starting and finishing in Ilkley.

A spokesperson for ICC said: "It’s a rewarding and fun filled day for riders and for the volunteers that make it possible. If you'd like to participate and or help out please see the Club’s website for more details on this popular event.

"One of the positives of the past year has been seeing more and more people getting out in the beautiful countryside, be it on a bike, running, walking with friends and family or riding horses. We’re committed to working respectfully with other recreational road users to share the available space safely.

"This year marks the tenth anniversary of being reformed in 2011 and the Club hopes to be able to celebrate properly before the year is out."
