A Yeadon heating company has supported the planting of 89 trees over the past year with charity partner Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

As part of its pledge to help offset carbon emissions and combat climate change, North East Heating Solutions has supported the planting of a tree in the Dales for every heating installation completed by the company. In just a year, this partnership has seen the planting of 89 trees in woodlands including Ormsgill Wood near Malham.

The company's owner Howard Klineberg, said: “I’m incredibly proud of this achievement. Our mission is to help deliver carbon neutral heating to homes and offices and now, over 15 tonnes of carbon could be offset in the next fifty years thanks to our customers and our charity partner, Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.

"We look forward to continuing to support their work in the Yorkshire Dales, helping them create beautiful and sustainable woodlands for everyone to enjoy.”

Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s Woodland Officer Carol Douglas said: “Through our ‘Together for Trees’ campaign we are working with many supporters and partners such as North East Heating Solutions to plant as many trees as we can across the Dales. Trees are hugely valuable as a habitat for wildlife supporting some of our most endangered woodland animals, like red squirrels, dormice and cuckoos.

“They are also important for our mental health and wellbeing and we believe that everyone should have access to them. The appeal aims to raise funds to create beautiful woodlands that everyone can enjoy for years to come.

“Our partnership with North East Heating Solutions is one we are proud of and is helping to plant trees across the Dales. We’ll hopefully be able to welcome them to the woodlands they’re supporting later in the year.”

The partnership between North East Heating Solutions and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust began in March 2020. This year the company has pledged to support the planting of more than a hundred trees.

On its website the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, which relies on donations and support from many thousands of people, says: "Tree planting is one of the most important things you can do for the environment. We’re working together with our partners and supporters to create a landscape with more native broadleaf woodlands for people and wildlife.

It adds: "Tree planting is perhaps what the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is most well known. for. Since we first started out in 1996 we’ve helped to plant around 1.5 million broadleaf trees, creating native woodlands of all shapes and sizes throughout the Yorkshire Dales and Nidderdale. It’s something that’s very close to our hearts."
