A DELAY in the resumption of the brown bin service in Leeds has been criticised by Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Paul Wadsworth.
Cllr Wadsworth, Shadow Spokesperson for Environmental Services, said there was confusion about the new date which was pushed back from early March to March 22.
He said:“Residents who were expecting to see a resumption of this service will now be left disappointed and confused at the late changes.
"The decision to resume garden waste collections should not have been made until it was certain that a full service could be delivered. Any changes should also have been communicated well in advance instead of what we have now, which is a mix-up for residents, some of whom won’t know when their brown bin will be collected – not everyone has a smartphone or internet access.
Earlier this week Leeds City Council announced the new date and said:"Due to the continued impact of Covid19 and lockdown three on staffing levels, and the amount of extra black and green bin waste being presented as more adults work from home and the majority of children learn remotely, the resumption of the brown bin service has been slightly delayed."
