DURING lockdown the Gallery At The Art Shop in Ilkley has been displaying artists work for all those passing by to see.

The current exhibition is showing the work of two Art Shop customers, who have carried on with their creative pastime during this period.

Mike Ingram worked in the printed textile trade until retiring. He has always painted, first in oils; but now also in watercolour, acrylic and pastel. Taking inspiration from nature and landscapes; the West Coast of Scotland, Lake District, Northumberland and Yorkshire Dales often feature in his work.

Neil Makin is a relative newcomer to watercolour, and is currently working on a project painting well known places in Wharfedale. A few of his more local scenes are currently on show. Neil has a background in teaching mathematics at secondary school level, which he now does part time enabling him to spend more time painting.

The Gallery along with The Art Shop will be welcoming customers old and new on Monday, April 12, in the meantime you can contact the shop by phone 01943 609031, or email ilkley@theartshops.co.uk to arrange click and collect.
