VOLUNTEERS in Wharfedale and Aireborough are being praised for their efforts in the fight against the coronavirus.
Adel and Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson said: “We owe a large debt of gratitude to our volunteer army in this city. Their work in my ward has been exemplary, and their efforts have ensured that the most vulnerable have been cared for.
Guiseley and Rawdon councillor Paul Wadsworth added:“I’d like to thank my volunteers, particularly Aireborough Voluntary Services to the Elderly (AVSED) who have acted as my volunteer hub, for the sterling job they have done since March.
“The voluntary work in our communities is so important in these difficult times, when many people in the city are not going to be able to meet their friends and vulnerable family members, particularly those in care homes.
“But we must remember that Covid-19 is far from coming to an end, and the public and many businesses are going to be facing challenging times for some time yet.
“Within our communities, we will work to bring the infection numbers down.”
