BRAMHOPE residents are being urged to contribute to a new time capsule while they still can.

Miller Homes is planning to bury the capsule in public open space at its new, 321 home Spring Wood Park development off Leeds Road.

Intended to give future residents a snapshot of ‘the unique year that 2020 has been’, it will be filled with all kinds of items including letters, photographs, memorabilia and artwork.

A plaque will also be installed to mark the capsule’s location - and asking future villagers to open it in 2070.

The developer, which is celebrating its 85th year in 2020, is hoping residents of all ages will get involved and has been talking to Bramhope Primary School.

Local councillors are backing the project and Councillor Caroline Anderson is looking forward to seeing what kind of things end up filling the capsule.

She said: “It will be amazing, in 50 years’ time, for the people who dig it up and read all about the residents who lived here at the time and what their thoughts were on the (Spring Wood Park) development.

Contributions can be sent in up until Monday, November 23 - for more details about how to donate an item send an e-mail to ysales@miller.co.uk
