OTLEY Bridge will be closed for several days this month for roadworks.
Leeds City Council has announced that Bridge Street will be closed to through-traffic between Farnley Lane and Cattle Market Street from 8am to midnight on Saturday, November 28 and from midnight to 11pm on Sunday, November 29.
The road will then be closed overnight - from 7pm to 1am - on Monday, November 30; Tuesday, December 1; and Wednesday, December 2. The closure is to allow resurfacing work to be carried out and a diversion, requiring motorists to use Pool Bridge, will be in place.
Councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said: “The works will cause considerable confusion and ward councillors initially asked if they could take place on a series of Sundays.
“Unfortunately this was not possible so undertaking the work during lockdown was the least worst alternative. I hope everyone will be patient while this necessary work is carried out.”
