HOUSEHOLDERS in Barnoldswick and Earby are being asked to look out for their new recycling and refuse collection calendars.
They are being delivered by hand to 40,000 homes across Pendle until the end of the month and as well as detailing collection dates, including changes over Christmas and New Year, explain what can be recycled, and how to dispose of bulky waste without falling foul of the law.
Councillor Mohammed Iqbal MBE, council leader said:“We’re urging people to keep their calendar in a safe place when they get it, so they know which bin to put out and when.”
Cllr Iqbal said people had recycled more than ever before during the national coronavirus lock-downs and extra restrictions put on the county.
“We’ve recycled an extra 585 tonnes in the six months from April to Sept 2020 including 168 tonnnes of paper and card and 417 tonnes of cans plastic and glass compared to April to Sept 2019,” he said.
The garden waste, green bin scheme, runs from July to the end of November every year.
